Beta terms of use
Draft of 23 October 2026 โ legal review pending.
These terms apply to the private beta of Betterward. They will be replaced by final terms, reviewed by a lawyer, before the public launch.
1. The service and the beta
Betterward is an app for a private journal, habits, planning, the people who matter to you and short calm sessions. It is operated by Mega Apps Ventures, LLC ("we"). The private beta is a test with invited people: the app is unfinished, features can change, appear or disappear, and errors are expected โ including errors that can lose data. The beta is free of charge.
2. Who may take part
You must be 18 or older and take part with an invitation. You use Betterward for yourself, not for commercial purposes and not to keep records about other people for someone else.
3. Your account, your backup and your recovery kit
- Your records are encrypted on your phone with keys only you hold. We cannot read them and cannot restore them for you.
- The recovery kit is the only way to restore your backup on a new phone. A password reset lets you sign in again but does not restore your data.
- Keep your password and your recovery kit safe and private. We will never ask you for them.
4. What we ask of testers
- Keep the backup turned on and store your recovery kit somewhere safe outside the phone (printed or in a password manager).
- Export what matters to you from time to time (Me โ Export), because a beta can lose data.
- Tell us about problems and what helps or gets in the way. Send feedback without journal content, names of people or your recovery kit (see support).
- Do not pass on the invitation or the test build, and do not try to access other people's data or to attack the service.
5. Not medical or professional advice
Betterward offers suggestions for everyday habits and reflection that you can try as experiments. It is not medical, psychological, therapeutic, legal or financial advice, it does not diagnose anything and it does not replace professional help. It gives no medical values, diet or fasting instructions. Betterward is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in danger or in a crisis, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line.
6. Suggestions, AI and your decisions
The app's suggestions come from rules applied to your own records. Optional AI features (off by default) can interpret text or draft proposals; their output can be wrong or incomplete. Nothing the app or an AI feature proposes changes your records until you accept it. You decide what you try and what you keep.
7. Your content
What you write and record is yours. We claim no rights to it. We store your backup only as ciphertext and process it only to provide the service. You are responsible for what you record about other people; keep it private and respectful.
8. Feedback
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve Betterward without any obligation to you. We do not publish your feedback in a way that identifies you without asking you.
9. No warranty
The beta is provided "as is" and "as available", without any warranty, to the extent permitted by law. We do not guarantee that the app is free of errors, always available, or that data cannot be lost.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, for lost data or for decisions you take based on the app. Liability that cannot be excluded by law, for example for intent or gross negligence, remains unaffected.
11. Ending the beta or your participation
You can stop at any time and delete your account (see delete your account and data). We may end the beta or your participation, for example in case of misuse. If we end the beta, we will tell you in advance by e-mail or in the app so you can export your data first. Export and account deletion stay free of charge, also later.
12. Price
The beta costs nothing. If paid plans exist later, we will tell you in advance; nothing turns into a paid plan without your explicit decision.
13. Privacy
How we handle personal data is described in the privacy policy.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic. Disputes go to the competent courts of the Dominican Republic, without prejudice to the consumer rights you have in your country of residence.
15. Changes to these terms
We may change these terms during the beta. We will publish the new version on this page and tell you about material changes in the app or by e-mail before they take effect.
