Sending feedback without journal content
We cannot read what you store in Betterward, and we do not need to. A good report says:
- what you did, what you expected and what happened instead;
- the app version (Me → About and legal) and your phone model.
Please do not include journal text, names of people, health details or your recovery kit. If you attach a screenshot, check it first and cover anything personal. We will never ask you for your password, your recovery kit or your journal content.
Export your data
In the app: Me → Export. You get one file with everything as JSON and your journal as Markdown. The export is not encrypted — store it somewhere safe and delete copies you no longer need.

Single records, the copy on your phone, the cloud backup or the whole account: see delete your account and data.
Forgot the app PIN
Tap Forgot PIN? on the lock screen and confirm with your phone's own screen lock (or fingerprint or face). Then choose a new PIN. Your entries are not lost.
New phone, lost phone, forgotten password
Your backup can be restored on a new phone only with your recovery kit. A password reset lets you sign in again but cannot restore your data, and we cannot restore it either. As long as the app still opens on your old phone, your data is there: export it.

Betterward is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in danger or in a crisis, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line.
